Deep breathing for relaxation can also influence gene expression related to inflammation, oxidative stress, and cellular metabolism. The longer you practice deep breathing, the more pronounced the benefits for any particular condition and for gene activity.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Simply get comfortable in any position and put your hands on your chest and stomach.
  2. To maximize oxygen intake, it’s important to learn to breathe from your abdomen (“belly breathing”) rather than your chest. Focus on your breath until you feel your stomach rise and fall more dramatically than your chest with each inhalation and exhalation.
  3. Breathe in through your nose, hold the breath for a few seconds and then exhale through your mouth. The time it takes to exhale should be about twice what it is to inhale. (Many suggest a 4:7:8 pattern – 4 to inhale, 7 to hold, and 8 to exhale.) Let go of other thoughts while you breathe.
  4. Do 4-8 breath cycles 1-3 times every day.

Everyone at some point of their life would have wondered if this disease is possible to beat. Treatment has been known to be painful and difficult to live with. Is there even a difference between the large variety of treatment methods offered? I aim to help you with these concerns.

Do alternative treatments really exist?

You will know that there are a lot alternative treatment methods whether ‘effective’ or not. Below I will share more information.

Are they legal?

Alternative treatments are not supported by scientific proof or solid facts and studies. They also do not go through any tests and as such, are not legally approved or authorized by any authority or establishments. So, the treatment products don’t follow any regulations. Usually, the methods involve natural things, such as diet changes, herbs and a lot of manual procedures.

Treatment centers

Many treatment centers offer differing options about the natural treatment methods. However, most of them believe that the cancer should be treated with the latest chemo, formula and medicines since they are proven methods.

Do the alternative treatment methods work?

According to some ‘experts’, everyone has cancer cells in their body and the only thing standing in the way is the body’s immune system. At an early stage, the cancer cells are thought to be weak and thus unable to affect our bodies.

These cancer cells won’t be able to overcome you if you have a strong, healthy immune system. As you know, common cancer treatments like chemotherapy has awful side effects like loss of hair and energy. The beauty of cancer treatment is that supposedly they can kill the cells of cancer without causing any side effects.

Is there any form of truth in it?

Alternative medicine boasting natural treatments are so popular these days you can find tons of methods out there, claiming to cure anything from arthritis to heart diseases and even cancer.

Interestingly enough, there isn’t much choice to begin with, seeing as only a 1/50 cancer patients find even a little relief from their condition, when undergoing chemotherapy. Thus, many do turn to natural treatments.

Oxygenated Treatment

A very popular alternative method is the practice of introducing more oxygen into the body, which in turn increases oxygen in our body cells. Why does this ‘work’?

We need oxygen for the cells in our body to work. The air we breathe contains about 21% oxygen, which is plenty for people with healthy lungs and many with lung disease. However, if you have bad lungs, you may not be able to get enough oxygen from your lungs into your blood. Hence, if your oxygen level is low, your healthcare provider will recommend supplemental oxygen. Also, the belief is that when oxygen levels are low in our bodies, that is when diseases start gain advantage and attempt to overcome us.

There are mainly 3 types of oxygen treatment : Oxygen Cylinders, Nasal Cannula and Pulse-On Device.

Oxygen Cylinders compress oxygen under high pressure into a metal cylinder and is stored in either large or small cylinders. This is the oldest method for storing oxygen. Cylinders contain 100% oxygen. Large cylinders are not portable and often used as the primary source of oxygen in the home

Nasal Cannulas are a two-pronged tubes that are placed in your nose for delivering oxygen. The other end of the tube is attached to your oxygen system. A nasal cannula has the ability to deliver high amounts of oxygen. However, high-flow oxygen (greater than 4 liters/minute) delivered by a nasal cannula can dry your nasal passages.

Pulse-On Devices deliver oxygen only when you breathe in. As you breathe in, the device senses the start of your inhalation and immediately gives a short “pulse” of oxygen. It can help you preserve the same amount of oxygen over a longer time.

Do I have enough oxygen?

Most people do not know when they need oxygen. Your health care provider will use special equipment to check the amount of oxygen in your blood. Your oxygen level is measured with either a blood sample or an oximeter. A blood sample is drawn from an artery (usually in your wrist) for an arterial blood gas (ABG) measurement. The ABG measures your oxygen level directly from your blood and is the most accurate of the tests. This can be done in the office, clinic or hospital, wherever the arterial blood test equipment is available.
